Hey Y'all,

Elder Duke and I have had another great week!

Last Monday we went and dropped by a referral from the Spanish elders, the Rodriguez family. When the Spanish elders were tracting, they knocked on this door and the mother answered. She said she wouldn't be interested at all, but that her kids might be. So she let Elder Hansen and Elder Willman teach her children. So we went back by and met with them. Daniel (14) Jade (13) Miles & Jorden (8 & 9). We had the worst lesson ever; it was kind of a testimony of D&C 42:14. I went into the lesson prideful, trusting in my own knowledge, and I wasn't unable to teach because I didn't receive the spirit. It was definitely a learning and very humbling experience for me. I was able to learn a very valuable lesson from that and the rest of the week, we had the best lessons I have had my whole mission. Including the follow-up lesson with them. Daniel even came to church yesterday!

Then we taught Andrew Lucio's Wife (Tiffany) twice last week. She is so excited for her baptism next weekend! It is something special being able to see her countenance literally change every time we see her. Every time she does her reading and praying. Lucky for her she has an amazing and very supportive spouse to help her in this process.

Saturday night we taught Greg Metcalf. He has been going through a rough time lately, without work and he is going through a divorce. He says that every time we come over we bring a peaceful feeling and he needs our weekly visits! He had a few concerns in the past, but he is finally opening up to us and admitting the things that worry him about our church. It is cool to see how he seems so confused and troubled when he asks a question, but a light enters him when he understands. He said that his whole life he has felt like he has been in a spiritual closet, but that someone has finally showed him the rest of the house. How amazing is that?!

Finally, we have some great news about Ray Rowell, the gentleman that got baptized about two weeks ago. His wife wants to take the lessons! It is kind of a funny situation because she doesn't speak English (btw, he doesn't speak Spanish... I have no idea how they communicate) anyways, the Spanish elders talked to her and she is ready to be taught. Last Tuesday we watched Joseph Smith, Prophet of the Restoration with Ray and Angela, and after the movie, she said to us (in broken English) that she didn't understand very much of it, but that she felt something in her heart.

It is incredible how you don't have to be able to speak someone's language, the Spirit can testify to anybody no matter what!

It has been a great week and Elder Duke and I have seen some great things! We also are looking forward to another great week!

Elder Riley Layton
