Hello Everybody,
What a week this week has been! Elder McLain and I saw some great miracles! For the last 3 weeks, a member of our ward, Betsy Ramirez, who is preparing for a mission, has brought a friend of hers to church. On the first week he came we asked him if we could teach him more and he declined. But last week Betsy called us and told us he wanted to learn more. We went over and taught him, he is so excited about the gospel and is very in tune with the spirit! He said how much he loves the church and how he feels the Spirit there. He also wants to serve a mission! Elder McLain and I are both just thinking how amazing this guy is! His name is Mark Mahecha. The Spanish elders in our area are kind of angry at us though, because I guess one week he went to the Spanish ward, so they also set up an appointment with him, but now we are teaching him. Elder Lee and Elder Virrueta are angry because we stole their investigator.
Also, we have this family in the Garland First Ward that, the whole family are members, except for Ashleigh. The family all joined at different times. Ashleigh has really been wanting to go to church, but she had to work on Sundays... EVERY Sunday. She hasn’t been able to get Sundays off. She texted us a few weeks ago and asked what she could do. We told her to fast and pray, and she agreed. So last week she lost her job. Jorge, her husband called us right after she told him, and he asked us to come teach her. We went by that night and she is going to get baptized on November 26th! How exciting?! She was at church yesterday and she loved it! Now she is working on finding a job that will let her get Sundays off. That was a great miracle!
Other than that, a lot of little miracles happened, the Lord is in this work, and I feel guided and protected every day as I go about his business. One thing that Elder Oaks said that I have really gained a testimony of is that "when we do the lord's work, he will do ours”.
Love,
Elder Layton
