Howdy y'all!
What a great week this last one was! Elder McOmber and I have really been blessed! Elder Kevin R Duncan came and visited us on Wednesday
and shared with us some great things that helped me get revamped for the work. I really enjoyed his visit! He is a very inspired man, and we were blessed
to be able to hear his counsel. Funny
story about his visit, President Durrant got up and introduced him, and in his introduction
he very briefly mentioned that he had served as mission president in the Santiago
North Mission. I instantly remembered Reid
Raleigh, (my brother-in-law, who served his mission in Santiago north) telling
me that both of his mission presidents are now general authorities, I was so excited,
because I knew he had to be one of them. Sure enough I went up and asked Elder Duncan
later and he remembered Elder Raleigh very well.
Tuesday we had an appointment with Myosha Johnson, who we have been teaching
sporadically the last 4 weeks. We
invited Carley Johnson, a member of the YSA (young single adult ward) here to
come with us, and that is what made all the difference. I never cease to be amazed how, when the right
member gets involved with investigators, it changes the conversion process completely!
Myosha went to institute that night,
then came to church yesterday and had a great experience!
On Sunday, in the family ward, a young lady from the apartments next door to the church building, just walked into church. I love it when that happens! Her name is Rosy. We contacted her a few weeks ago in her apartment, and yesterday morning I guess she just felt moved to come to church. Elder McOmber and I have decided to make sure that we, over the next few weeks get to meet all the members. It is awesome, the spirit we feel in the homes of members living the gospel. The members here have such a desire to share the gospel and we are really excited to help them reach out to those around them. It is so exciting to get to visit with them in their homes and answer their questions and help them overcome their concerns. This work is catching fire! We are excited for another week of service and love. We have got some great things to look forward to!
Love, Elder Layton
