Hello Everybody,
So I was transferred, and I am now serving inside the city. I am serving in the Lake Highlands and Garland 1st Wards. I already love this area a ton! Elder Boynton (my companion) and I are having a great amount of success and are teaching lots of lessons! It is really hard to fit everything in the day. Also, we are on bikes. Being on a bike is definitely kind of new, but I am thoroughly enjoying it, now that I am getting used to it. We can just stop and talk to people on the street as we are on our way to our various places. The other day it was really funny, we were riding through a street and an older gentleman in a wheelchair threw his arms up and, I couldn't understand exactly what he said, but I understood that he thought we were police. And he was giving himself up to us. We stopped and talked to him. He was kind of a crazy guy, but I won't get into that.
Then this week we taught a man named Joe Gibson. He is from Liberia, as we finished teaching the first lesson he asked us when he could get baptized. We love visiting Joe!
Then there is also the Howell family. Sister Howell joined the church in Vietnam and went inactive for 30 years and is now coming back to church and is bringing her husband and 2 children. The awesome thing was that we were teaching them on Friday and he was asking us questions about the commandments. The amazing thing was, when we told him that we couldn't go shopping on Sunday, and that he couldn't drink tea, He just said "well, we are going to have to change the way we do things" AWESOME! He is so awesome and he really has a desire to know the truth of the gospel! It is such a blessing to be serving in this area! I am so stoked to be here!
Hope Y'all have a great week!
Elder Layton
