A Letter from President Durrant

11 May, 2012

Dear Brother and Sister Layton,

I am writing to let you know that your son, Elder Riley James Layton, has been called to be one of my two Assistants.  It is quite a process to consider and call a missionary to any position, but especially an Assistant.

As Sister Durrant and I considered the possiblities for this position, we both had the same impression, that your son was the elder that we needed in the mission at this time in this position.  As I went to the Lord for confirmation, it was manifest to me that the Lord concurred in a very specific way.  He will be a great example to his fellow missionaries and a great help to me.  He is working with Elder Cody Abram Seager, who is also one of our best.

I appreciate the way you have brought him up and the principles that you have taught him.  He is a hard worker and one whom I can trust and confide in.  May the Lord bless you for the sacrifice you are making to have your son in His service at this time.

Sincerely,
Devin G. Durrant, President
Texas Dallas Mission
